Zebtron Camera Zapper
macOS 14+ · v1.346 controlled beta · free

Your camera roll deserves more than one backup.

Camera Zapper moves, verifies, syncs, and — only when you approve — safely deletes media from cameras, cards, Android phones, tablets, and folders on your Mac.

Free for macOS · 3.9 MB · Apple Silicon or Intel

A camera sending media outward to cloud, local-disk, and NAS destinations.

Why it exists

Built because everything else was half-baked.

I built Camera Zapper for my own Macs because the sync apps out there were incomplete, awkward, or tied to a single destination. I wanted one understandable workflow — local safety staging, my NAS, Apple Photos, Google Photos, Flickr, private YouTube backup, and NeoFinder — without guessing what finished or risking originals.

What it does

One workflow, every destination, nothing lost.

One-button run

Scan, verified backup, destination sync, preflight, and safe deletion — the whole run in one press.

SHA-256 verified

Interruption-safe local staging. Nothing is deleted until it's provably copied.

NAS catch-up

Reconnect to your LAN or VPN and it resumes right where it left off.

Many destinations

Apple Photos, Google Photos session albums, Flickr, private YouTube, and NeoFinder — at once.

📱

Android, first-class

USB or wireless ADB with guided troubleshooting — no iPhone required.

🕘

Remembers your gear

Offline device history, nicknames, facts, and sync status persist between runs.

🧾

Dedup receipts

Durable, multi-Mac-aware deduplication so files never get copied twice.

Deep control

Advanced per-stage and per-service settings when you want to tune every step.

Destinations & formats

Backs up to the places you actually use.

Local archiveNAS (SMB)Apple Photos Google PhotosFlickrPrivate YouTubeNeoFinder

Ingests JPEG, HEIC/HEIF, PNG, TIFF, major camera RAW (Sony ARW, Fuji RAF, Canon CR2/CR3, Nikon NEF/NRW, Olympus ORF, Panasonic RW2, DNG, GoPro GPR) and video (MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, AVI, MTS/M2TS, 3GP, WebM). Cloud services accept provider-specific subsets — see the manual.

How it works

Four steps. Originals stay safe.

  1. 1

    Connect

Plug in a device or choose an ingest folder.

  2. 2

    Press go

Hit Sync, Verify & Safely Delete.

  3. 3

    Watch it work

Live progress for every file and destination.

  4. Safe delete

Originals are removed only after every required check passes.

Private by design

Your media stays yours.

⚑ Controlled beta. A hands-on testing build, not a notarized public release. Google / Flickr / YouTube OAuth is still in review. Start with noncritical media and keep deletion confirmation on while you test.

Free & open source (MIT) — read or build the code on GitHub.

Install & Android setup

Up and running in a couple of minutes.

  1. Open Zebtron-Camera-Zapper-1.346.dmg and drag Zebtron Camera Zapper into Applications.
  2. Control-click the app → Open the first time; approve the Photos / removable-media / folder / automation prompts.
  3. For Android: install ADB with brew install android-platform-tools, enable USB debugging, connect, and choose Probe Again. (ADB handles detection, listing, on-device hashing, transfer, and confirmed deletion.)
  4. Enable only the destinations you actually use, and leave automatic deletion off until several manual runs check out.
